I must admit, my experience at Sayulita and its beach left me feeling scammed. The beach, which is supposed to be the main attraction, is disappointingly dirty and noisy, littered with construction materials, beer cans and cigarette butts. Walking on the beach is a challenge due to the abundance of stones and debris. To make matters worse, there is a sewage treatment facility in the middle of the beach, emitting an unpleasant odor.
It seems that the positive reviews about Sayulita are only a result of people in the tourism industry, such as surf shops, hotels and influencers, publishing photoshopped pictures from specific angles to make it appear like paradise. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth and visitors like myself end up feeling let down.
Despite already booking flights and accommodations, I urge others to reconsider their plans and avoid this tourist trap. If you do decide to visit, be prepared for a less than ideal experience and don't be fooled by filtered Instagram photos.
