This beach is absolutely stunning and one of the best ones we've been to. We went in March and for the most part, we had the beach to ourselves, although there were a few people surfing.
Amado is a spacious beach that stretches across three valleys. The cliffs, with their warm red and ochre colors, create a unique contrast with the sand.
Surfers love this beach, as it is very popular among them.
Due to the risk of landslides and falling rocks, it is recommended to keep a safe distance from the cliffs.
To access the beach by road, you can take a tarmacked road from the southern entrance of Carrapateira and continue towards Amado for about 2 km.
Alternatively, you can reach Amado from the Bordeira Beach car park by heading south along the coastline for approximately 5 km (4 km of which are along a dirt track). There are ample parking areas available on beaten earth.
Facilities at Amado include restaurants, restrooms, information and recreational facilities, such as a surfing school. During the summer holiday season, there are also lifeguards on duty.
