Adore the shore. Simple access, quick exit, and excellent fishing.

4 Frustrating

I have not been there in a few years. Wonder if there is any beach left to drive on. I know we had to have a 4 wheel drive. To get on the beach further down to the left. Going east. We would call it drift wood city because there was so much drift wood there due to the way the tides rolled . I love seeing that. So now it’s 2023 how is it? Can you get on the beach???

I strongly disagree with the low reviews. This is at least the 27th or 28th best beach in Texas. We saw sharks, dolphins and other wildlife like sand fleas during our visit. We also met a very nice lonely traveler (aka serial killer) who offered to give us a ride. The lack of amenities, like bathrooms, is really no big deal. You just do as nature intended and potty in the ocean. Overall it is the very best/closest beach if you live in Austin.

2 Very poor

Visited for an overnight stay and some kayak fishing. There is a portable restroom located on the opposite end of the park. I set up my tent in the grassy section while nearby teenagers were joyriding and making noise on the road leading to the park (around 10:00 p.m.). However, my peaceful night was interrupted at 12:30 am by individuals blasting music at an extremely high volume (complete with a speaker adorned with neon lights on the back of their truck) and engaging in conversations loud enough to carry across the water. Unfortunately, I had to depart due to the disturbance and lack of consideration. While I believe the fishing experience is excellent, I would advise against overnight camping. It may be beneficial for law enforcement to increase patrols in the area.
