The beach is an ideal location for those who enjoy wind surfing, kite surfing, and foiling, as it offers a perfect blend of wind and water. The parking facilities are excellent, and there are well-maintained trails leading to the beach, as well as plenty of places to relax and unwind for the day. However, during the summer months, the beach can become quite crowded.

The Myers Creek/Pistol River area, located eight miles north of Gold Beach and 20+ miles south of Brookings, is a stunning 2.8 mile stretch of the southern Oregon Coast. In my opinion, it is the most Alaskan-like area in the lower 48 states, second only to Big Sur in California. The beach is easily accessible and offers both fresh and saltwater fishing opportunities. As the family cook, I can attest to the deliciousness of the fish caught in this area. However, it is important to note that the 12-hour overnight parking privileges along Highway 101 in this area and others along the coast are being slowly removed by The Oregon Department of Transportation due to complaints from landowners about homeless individuals living in their vehicles. This antiquated regulation is closing off these areas to everyone, including law-abiding citizens.
