Black Rock Beach

Nestled by the hotels, this picturesque beach offers breathtaking views during the evening hours. The waves crashing against the rocks create a mesmerizing sight that is sure to leave you in awe. Unlike the crowded Waikiki, this beach provides a peaceful escape for those seeking some tranquility. The area boasts of numerous fine dining options and accommodation choices in close proximity. For diving enthusiasts, the farthest end to the right is the spot to be. We witnessed people diving while we were there, and it was permitted. The sunset is an absolute treat for the senses, and you don't want to miss it.

The sunset at this beach is truly breathtaking, however, the waves can be a bit rough for those seeking a calm swim. For thrill-seekers, the cliffs provide an excellent opportunity for jumping. The beach is pleasantly uncrowded, with some visitors choosing to snorkel in the clear waters. If you are looking for a more traditional swimming experience, Waikiki may be a better choice. Nevertheless, there are plenty of other beautiful spots nearby to explore. Observing the divers is a relaxing way to spend your time here.

During our trip to Maui in April, we stumbled upon a beach that quickly became one of our top favorites. We rented scuba gear from Snorkel Bobs and spent hours swimming along the black rock, where we were delighted to find many turtles. While the cliff jumping was a bit nerve-wracking for me, I ultimately faced my fears and took the plunge. However, I wouldn't recommend it for small children or older adults. The beach was perfect for sunbathing, and we even managed to sneak into the hotel bar for a drink after the sun went down. Overall, a fantastic experience that we won't soon forget.

For the best snorkeling experience, head to the north end near the black rocks, where you'll find a bustling atmosphere and easy access to prime snorkeling locations. This area also provides a bit of shelter from the wind, making it an ideal spot to spend the day. You don't need to venture far from the shore to witness an array of vibrant fish swimming alongside you. For a chance to encounter larger and more diverse species, swim beyond the rocks where thrill-seekers can even try their hand at cliff jumping. Our visits to Black Rock Beach were never complete without spotting the graceful sea turtles that frequent the shallow waters. With its stunning scenery and abundant marine life, this beach is truly a must-visit destination for any ocean enthusiast.
