We strolled over from Platte River Campground in early October on a windy day. The area was nearly empty, but there's ample parking for numerous visitors, picnickers, fishers, and boaters. The picnic area looks fantastic. There are flush toilets available and access to miles of beach.

This is a fantastic small park to view Lake Michigan. The Platte River flows into Lake Michigan at this spot. In the summer, it's a popular destination for tubing into the lake. I frequently visit during the Fall and Winter when it's peaceful and stunning. From the beach, you can see for miles and spot the towering Sand Hills of the Sleeping Bear Dunes rising from Lake Michigan in the distance.

4 Frustrating

The parking situation is incredibly crowded. I had to walk nearly a quarter mile to reach my car. If you plan to visit, make sure to arrive very early to secure a spot. By the way, it's an amazing beach.

What a stunning spot for swimming and relaxing. The lake is fantastic, and the secluded swimming areas are a real treat. Definitely worth a visit. I only wish I had more time to float down the river.

Fantastic spot for various activities like fishing, canoeing, boating, and kayaking. Kiteboarding is excellent here when the wind comes from the west. The bathrooms are abundant, well-maintained, and accessible at night from May through October. This location is also perfect for viewing the Northern Lights, as you can walk along the beach for miles, reducing congestion. Remember to keep your light aimed at the ground while walking at night to avoid blinding others. Handicapped individuals can easily view the Northern Lights from the boat ramp area. Be cautious at the river mouth, as it shifts and can be deep in some areas, making it difficult to wade through at night.
