Ah, the lovely Golden Beach. How original. I mean, who wouldn't want to spend their day surrounded by sand, sunburns, and screaming children? It's the perfect spot for those who enjoy the feeling of sand in every crevice of their body and the smell of sunscreen in their nostrils. And let's not forget the joy of constantly dodging frisbees and beach balls while trying to relax. Truly a paradise on earth.

Nestled close to the revered Sri Kurusa Shrine, this beach has the potential to be a stunning destination if only it were kept in better condition. Despite the presence of dustbins along the shoreline, litter seems to be a pervasive problem. It is my sincere hope that visitors will refrain from littering and help preserve the natural beauty of this area. On a brighter note, there are charming little wadai shops and ice cream vans in the vicinity, providing a sweet respite from the sun and sand.

Marawila beach is undoubtedly the main attraction of the town. The sandy stretch is adorned with swaying palm trees and is an ideal spot for sun-seekers to bask in the warm rays or watch the local fishermen at work. Inland, the Kurusa Palliya, or Holy Cross Church, is steeped in history and local lore of miraculous healings that date back to 1920. Legend has it that a child was cured of skin ailments by washing in the water used to clean a cross placed in a cemetery by a parish priest. Even today, people come to the Holy Cross seeking a cure for their ailments.
