Don't repeat our mistake, or maybe you should. This secluded beach is accessible only by a rugged road that requires a sturdy 4x4. The end of the road leads to a private gate for an upscale hotel, offering breathtaking views that seem almost surreal. We captured some stunning photos that could easily be mistaken for a postcard from paradise. However, we were unable to enter the gate and had to turn back. It appears that some reviewers have mistaken this beach for Playa Matapalo, which is located on the same path as the Rio hotel. Fortunately, we found our way to Playa Matapalo and were rewarded with a stunningly beautiful beach.

9 Excellent

Nestled in a serene location, this beach is a hidden gem that can be easily accessed on foot from the RIU Palace Resort. Its seclusion guarantees a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing you to unwind and soak up the sun in tranquility. With its pristine waters and soft sands, this beach is the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate. Whether you're looking to take a dip in the sea or simply lounge on the shore, this beach offers a serene and idyllic escape from the stresses of everyday life.

2 Very poor

This beach is nothing but a mirage of paradise! The water is eerily calm, making it impossible to enjoy any kind of water activity. The only thing you can do is float and let your mind wander into the abyss of boredom. The only entertainment you'll find here is watching rays and fish jump, which gets old pretty quickly. The natural shade and breezes are the only redeeming qualities of this beach, but they're not enough to make up for the lack of facilities. There's not even a restroom in sight! The only thing worse than the lack of facilities is the abundance of parking, which means that this beach is always crowded with people who are just as disappointed as you are. I wouldn't even give it a one-star rating, but unfortunately, it's already been overrated as a five-star beach.

3 Poor

This so-called "beautiful" beach in Guanacaste is just another overrated tourist trap. Unless you have a 4x4 vehicle, good luck getting there without spending a fortune on transportation. And even if you do manage to make it, don't expect to have any fun - camping and fires are strictly forbidden. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
