Kontari beach can be found a mere 3 kilometers south of the city and is located close to the Chios airport. The beach stretches out for quite a distance and is covered in a combination of pebbles and coarse sand. During periods of northerly winds, the waves can become quite large, so it's best to avoid visiting during this time unless you're a big fan of waves.
