The sandy beach was truly magnificent. However, we encountered some difficulty locating a changing cabin amidst the vast expanse of the beach. Unfortunately, we could not locate a shower to cleanse ourselves of the salty sea water. Despite these minor setbacks, there was ample space available to park our car.

The beach near Heraklion is nothing but a disappointment. Sure, it's wide and sandy, but that's about it. Don't be fooled by the lack of stones and pebbles, because the water is still rocky and uneven. And let's not even talk about the limited food choices - you'll be lucky to find anything edible. The only positive thing about this beach is the view of planes landing, but even that gets old after a while. Save your time and money and stay away from this overrated spot.

The beach offers ample free parking and features a vast expanse of soft, sandy shores. Visitors are treated to an unparalleled view of planes descending towards Herakleion airport. During our visit in late May, the water was slightly too chilly for an immediate plunge, but nonetheless inviting.

This shoreline is located a mere 10-minute drive from Heraleion. Its calm and shallow waters are perfect for frolicking around, but it's best to avoid venturing too far out during windy conditions, as it can be a bit challenging. Additionally, this beach offers one of the most gorgeous sunsets you'll ever witness.

The beach is vast and offers ample space to unwind and take a dip in the refreshing waters. The beach is well-maintained and provides a serene atmosphere for solo travelers and families alike. It may not be the ideal spot for those seeking a bustling beach with all the trendy amenities, but it is an excellent choice for those who prefer a more laid-back experience. While there may be superior beaches in the vicinity, they may require a more extended drive. As for a beach in close proximity to Heraklion, this one is a decent option to consider.
