This beach in eastern Crete is truly one of the best. The sand and water are absolutely perfect.

The beach is fantastic with its fine sand and is perfect for families with children as the water is shallow and you can wade out quite far. There are multiple bars that provide lounges with umbrellas, and some apartments also offer umbrellas and chairs for guests. Non-guests can pay around €6 a day for loungers if they are still available. While there are trees that provide shade in certain areas of the beach, it's recommended to use a chair or lounger as there are rocks underneath. Additionally, there are jet skis and other fun water activities available in the center of the beach.

While not flawless, this beach is among the top choices in Crete, surpassing the majority of popular options in Chania and Rethymno. However, it tends to get quite crowded in August. Unfortunately, there is an excessive amount of plastic waste for my personal preference, although some may find it acceptable. The primary issue stems from strong north winds that push garbage towards the sea. It would be beneficial for local authorities to educate residents on proper recycling practices, as littering is a common occurrence in the area. During the peak summer season, I have witnessed floating human waste on more than one occasion. Although it may benefit marine life, it is not something I find appealing. There are superior alternatives in close proximity.
