I have visited this beach multiple times and each time I am mesmerized by the sight of the remains of a small temple, particularly the striking pink marble pillar that still stands tall. Sadly, the relentless waves of the sea are slowly eroding the temple away, leaving behind small fragments that wash up on the shore. As I walked along the water's edge, I noticed pottery pieces emerging from the compacted sand. On some occasions, I found sizable pieces that I left untouched for others to discover. This secluded beach is a haven for those seeking solitude, as I have never encountered more than a handful of people during my visits. It is also a place where one can enjoy a swim without feeling the need to wear a swimsuit.

I had the pleasure of visiting one of the most stunning beaches on Crete, which also happens to be a prime spot for snorkeling. Don't let the rocky road deter you, as the journey is well worth it. It's recommended to drive a 4WD vehicle to reach the beach but the 2 km walk to the shore is not too strenuous. The water here is refreshingly cool, unlike the warmer temperatures found on the island's southern coast.

Nestled near Krios beach and accessible via the E4 trail leading to Kedrodasos, lies a remarkable and intimate beach. Our first stop on the hike, taking only 15-20 minutes, was well worth it. The serene sea and ancient ruins provide a peaceful atmosphere, with plastic chairs in good condition available for visitors to utilize. A tree offers a natural shade for those seeking refuge from the sun. The waters are sublime and as you venture further in, the sea floor becomes shallow due to a flat rock with a soft texture underfoot. It is important to exercise caution when walking barefoot, as there may be weever fish present. Fortunately, I escaped unscathed, but it is best to keep an eye out for them.

The beach is a serene and intimate escape, with little to no crowds to disturb your peace. However, the road leading to the beach is not without its flaws, and the trek on foot can take a minimum of 20 minutes. If you choose to drive, it's best to have a moderate level of skill to navigate the terrain. Parking is limited, with only a small area for a few cars on the roadside near the edge. Despite these minor setbacks, the beach is a fantastic spot for snorkeling, and the views of the surrounding hills are simply breathtaking.
