We embarked on our first 4WD adventure here with a few good friends and had an absolutely fantastic time. We stayed in camp zone 1, which offered plenty of spots to choose from for setting up our campsite. Our trip included a pleasant drive up to Double Island Point, and we appreciated the convenient access to public bins and toilets at the Freshwater campground. We will definitely be returning here again.

Fantastic spot. It's always been a reliable choice, and I've been camping here for many years. However, recently there have been too many instances of speeding and groups of youths causing disturbances. It's reassuring to see the Rangers daily and, of course, the Iceman.

Lower your tire pressure to 18psi, speed through the initial few hundred meters of soft sand, and then, at low tide, enjoy a pleasant 45-kilometer drive each way to the picturesque Rainbow Beach - a fantastic day out!

We visited this location for a camping trip, and it turned out to be one of the best we've ever experienced. We're so glad we chose this spot, with camping at just $7 a night and a beach vehicle permit for $35 for the week. It's an unbeatable deal. Rainbow Beach is about a 45-minute to 1-hour drive away, depending on traffic. This is a fantastic destination for families looking for a long weekend getaway or a school holiday trip. A 4WD vehicle is necessary to access the camping sites. Highly recommended.

I absolutely LOVE this place! It's fantastic and affordable for camping. You can fish all along the beach. Drive up to Double Island Point where you can surf, fish, or hike up to the headland. Take the small 4WD track, and you'll find the northern side of Double Island Point is sheltered from most winds, offering excellent fishing and a perfect spot to set up with the family. You can continue along that beach or take Freshwater Creek Road through the stunning rainforest to Rainbow Beach, Inskip Point, and the barge for Fraser Island. This place is the best (it just edges out Fraser due to the barge costs to get there)!
