Unfortunately, the ocean has become somewhat contaminated, which is particularly noticeable during high tide. The water takes on a brownish hue and is accompanied by an unusual foam.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this charming seaside village. While it may not be the most picturesque location, there is a certain charm to its quaintness. The local bars and restaurants were welcoming and reasonably priced, and the seafront offered a unique and intriguing experience. I appreciated that it wasn't overly commercialized, allowing for a more authentic and relaxed atmosphere.

Let's face it, Madeira is a paradise for adventure seekers, nature enthusiasts, and those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. However, if you're looking for pristine beaches, you'll have to head over to Porto Santo, which is just a stone's throw away. The beaches in Madeira are natural and unspoiled, unlike those you see in travel brochures. Praia das Palmeiras is a perfect spot to unwind and listen to the soothing sound of the waves. You can also catch breathtaking sunrises with the Ilhas Desertas looming in the distance. The best part is that it's not overcrowded with tourists, so you can relish the peace and tranquility. If you're traveling with kids, there's a playground right next to the beach where they can have a blast while you soak up the sun. The town center is just a stone's throw away, and during winters, it feels like a forgotten hamlet at the end of the world.
