Latest reviews on Kos island's beaches

Paradise beach
10 Jace Rivers

This stunning beach in Kefalos boasts a semi-wild landscape, complete with picturesque cliffs and mountains in the backdrop. The water is crystal clear and refreshingly cool, without being too cold. While there is a bar on-site, it only serves drinks, and there are about 20-25 umbrellas available for rent, each with two sun beds at a cost of 10€ per day. However, there is ample space to lay down freely on the sand and soak up the sun. The only downside is that the bar plays loud techno music throughout the day, which seems out of place in such a serene and tranquil environment. During low tide, visitors can explore the nearby cove to the south, but it's important to wear suitable footwear and check the tide schedule to avoid getting stranded. Although the road to reach the beach is unpaved and steep in places, it's still accessible with a regular small car. Many other visitors drove their normal cars safely to the car park, which had more normal cars than ATVs and 4x4s. Following Google Maps, the journey takes around 30-40 minutes from Kefalos village, with the roughest and steepest stretches requiring a speed of 10-20 km/h. It's best to keep the car in low gears, preferably 2nd or 1st, and avoid big rocks and potholes. With some care and attention, the drive can be a fun and memorable experience. Overall, this beach is a must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful and idyllic escape.

Troulos beach

This beach may not be vast, but it is far from congested. With only around 20 umbrellas and accompanying sunbeds, as well as a cozy little bar, it's the perfect spot for a peaceful day in the sun. For a mere 5€, we were able to secure two sunbeds and relax for hours. If you find yourself in need of sustenance, there's a fantastic tavern just a 20-minute stroll away. And, as an added bonus, this side of the beach offers stunning views of the sunset.

Kata beach

This beach is quite secluded, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere with plenty of space for everyone. If you're seeking a tranquil beach experience, this is the ideal spot to visit. The sand may not be the typical golden or white color, but it's still a beautiful sight to behold. The beach is wide and open, providing ample room to relax and enjoy the scenery. During my visit, the waves were quite intense, but it made for a thrilling swim. However, it's important to exercise caution when entering the water due to the strong waves. Despite the lack of amenities, such as a bar or sunbeds for rent, there is still plenty to enjoy. A kite surfer was taking advantage of the constant breeze, adding to the already picturesque view. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable amount of plastic debris scattered along the beach, detracting from its natural beauty. Accessing the beach requires a short drive down an unpaved road, but it's manageable with a regular car. Overall, this beach is a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful and unspoiled environment.

Psalidi Beach

This vacation spot leaves much to be desired. The beach fails to live up to the stunning images advertised, with a plethora of debris and a lack of cleanliness. Plastic waste is abundant and mars the otherwise picturesque scenery. However, the one redeeming aspect of this location is the breathtakingly beautiful water.

Aqua Blue beach

The beach is sandy and conveniently located near Kos town, making it a great choice for families with children due to its gentle slope into the water. It stretches out for quite a distance and offers both free areas and sections with sunbeds. Despite its popularity, it is not overcrowded. The presence of trees provides ample shade, although it should be noted that the area beneath them tends to be quite dirty.

Agios Theologos beach

This beach in Kos is undoubtedly the finest one you'll find. For a mere 5 euros per day, you can rent an umbrella and two sunbeds to relax in the sun. The beach is never overcrowded and you'll only encounter a handful of people. Plus, there's a restaurant just a few steps away that serves delectable meals.
