Latest reviews on Calheta's beaches

Calheta Beach
10 Sarai Rodriguez

This place is fantastic with two beaches. It's great to take a stroll and grab a cup of coffee by the beach. You can hear the waves, which makes it incredibly peaceful.

Ponta do Sol Beach
10 Parker Winsted

This charming spot is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the pebbled shore. Take a break at one of the cozy cafes and indulge in a cup of coffee or a delectable snack while admiring the mesmerizing view of the waves colliding with the rugged rocks.

Praia Da Ribeira Brava
8 Serene Smith

The beach features a small area of soft black sand, approximately 30 meters in length, while the remaining portion is comprised of large, rounded pebbles or small rocks. A wooden walkway has been constructed, and there are several wooden platforms that can accommodate 2-3 people. Some of these platforms have parasols, which makes sunbathing more comfortable if you are lucky enough to get one. The water is tranquil as it is situated in a man-made bay. It is a pleasant place to spend a few hours, and the sunset is particularly beautiful.

Praia do Porto do Seixal
10 Dane Kell.

What a hidden treasure! The parking nearby the beach is complimentary, but be prepared for a crowd. The beach boasts a waterfall at one end and showers at the other, making it a convenient spot for a refreshing rinse. The sand is a unique and beautiful black volcanic variety, but be mindful as it can cling to everything. The nearby restaurant is a delightful spot to indulge in tasty and reasonably priced local cuisine, making it a must-visit destination.

Praia da Madalena do Mar
10 The Critiquist.

This pebble beach may be small, but it's perfectly adequate for a day out. It's situated at the end of the promenade from the main road, but it's recommended to park further up and walk down. The beach itself is entirely pebbled, and the current can be strong, so it's best to have company. Lifeguards aren't present in the area, so it's important to be cautious. The pier is a great spot for swimming or fishing. At the end of the promenade, you'll find a small playground for children and two cafes/bars where you can relax in the shade and grab a bite to eat or drink.

Natural public swimming pool
10 Kaelan Arden

This is a great place to grab a drink or coffee, take in the beautiful scenery, and unwind. If you're in the vicinity, it's definitely worth checking out the peaceful atmosphere (just keep in mind that this review was written during the off-season).
