During my youth, I sought an escape from the rigors of school and found solace in a tranquil oasis nestled beneath the protective cliffs of the Napoli Sud Tirreno railway line. This idyllic location, situated in Torre del Greco, boasted a small yet pristine beach that was fed by the fresh spring waters of submerged Vesuvian streams. The crystal-clear waters were teeming with small and fascinating creatures such as Ursine and spurts, which we delighted in exploring through free diving. A Saracen tower stood guard over the beach, connected to the marshy lands behind the railway ballast by a bridge. Along the railway line lay the remains of a Roman ruin ad opus reticulatum, and the legend of the old Torresi claimed that a staua of a putto was once removed from the site. This peaceful haven was a precious escape for me from March to October, and its natural beauty remains etched in my memory to this day.
