The hotel in question has taken it upon themselves to selfishly barricade a stunningly beautiful beach, using a fence with barbed wire to prevent public access. If you wish to step foot on this paradise, you must first navigate through the hotel Villa and cough up 50 pesos. It's quite apparent that this behavior is illegal, but apparently the hotel is above the law. Additionally, the abandoned water park nearby is a depressing sight to behold, a wasted space that could have been utilized for something better.

The exquisite beach in Puerto Escondido is undoubtedly one of the most captivating destinations that I have ever visited. It is a serene and tranquil place, which is never overcrowded, and that's what I love about it. Although the path to the beach can be a bit challenging, once you arrive, the picturesque view and peaceful atmosphere will make it all worth it. It's a place that will leave you breathless and enamored. 😍

In order to reach the beach without paying a fee, one must trek from Bacocho beach, which can be treacherous due to the formation of slippery rocks. Alternatively, you can opt to pay 80 pesos to enter via Hotel Villas Mexicana, which we chose to do. The hotel graciously provides you with a voucher for a refreshing beer and water or a delicious hamburger, making for a decent bargain while taking in the picturesque scenery. However, the hotel itself is in dire need of renovation and upkeep, with the beachside restrooms being particularly unpleasant. Though the beach is visually appealing, it is quite rocky and the water is somewhat murky, likely due to the recent hurricane. Additionally, the undertow is quite strong and the waves are sizable, making it a suitable destination only for seasoned swimmers.

I have visited this beach twice and encountered some difficulties accessing it. The first time, I was directed to go through a hotel's backyard, but after walking for five minutes down from the cliff, I was rudely turned back by a foreign woman who claimed it was a private area. I had to walk back up in the heat and make a big circle from Bacocho beach. The second time, I entered through Bacocho beach, which was about a 10-minute walk, but at the end, I had to navigate through big rocks, which could be dangerous at high tide and slippery. Although the beach is public, the area to approach it looks like it's private, so you have to take a long walk to get there and back. The beach itself is small but nice, with the same waves as in other places, making it difficult to swim in. There are shades, but they are located in the private area. The same woman from my first visit came to us again, telling us that the area was private. I am not sure how this beach works, as it seems to be public, but the access is tricky. Before reaching the beach from Bacocho, there is a big beach with a nice restaurant and breathtaking surroundings with beautifully organized palm trees. Perhaps it is better to book at one of the hotels on the cliff if you want to visit this beach. There are not many people here, and from the cliff, you have an amazing view. Additionally, the hotel on the beach has a nice backyard and a whole little playtown built for kids to play outside.

During our recent holiday in Puerto Escondido, we visited Playa Coral and were thoroughly impressed with the beach. The pristine sands were meticulously maintained, and we were pleased to find that the beach was not overcrowded. Although the waves were a bit too strong for our children to swim in, they still enjoyed playing in the water. As we ventured towards the southern part of the beach, we stumbled upon a coral watching area, which was a unique and fascinating experience. However, we had to pay an entrance fee to access the beach through the hotel villa mexicana, as the public entrance was closed. The hotel charged us a reasonable $80 pesos, which included access to the nearby beach pool, a delicious burger, and a refreshing soda or water. Our children were thrilled to spend most of the day splashing around in the pool, making it a fantastic day out for the whole family.
