The staff at the campground is friendly and actively maintains the area. However, there were a few instances in the evening where the pool had loud parties with DJ speakers, and it seemed like the staff was unaware of the situation. Additionally, despite it being against the rules, people were openly consuming alcohol in and around the pool. However, during the mornings and early afternoons, the pool was enjoyable and the campers were respectful during those times.
Throughout the park, the campsites are quite close together and none of them offer noteworthy views on the beach side of the campground. On the other hand, the sound side of the campground does have some lovely waterfront sites with views, and that's what we would choose if we were to return to the Cape Hatteras region.
The beach right by Camp Hatteras is narrower compared to other areas in the Outer Banks, and it slopes moderately and quickly towards the ocean. If you're solely looking for a beach vacation, I wouldn't recommend Camp Hatteras. However, it is a nice location if you want to explore the tourist attractions in and around the Outer Banks.
