If you're in the mood for a lively carnival atmosphere, the boardwalk area is the place to be, though it can get quite crowded. For a more serene experience, take a stroll along the lighthouse and enjoy the peaceful, uncrowded surroundings. The sunset views are absolutely breathtaking, and the entire area is impeccably clean. The drive to the beach from the Bay Area is equally as stunning, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.
This beach is perfect for those new to surfing! My husband has been teaching our daughters how to surf here and it's a great spot for beginners. The beach is protected and warmer than other spots, and there are refreshments available right next to the boardwalk. Restrooms are conveniently located at the front of the pier. Personally, I love to paint and relax on the beach, and then scale up my paintings back in my studio in San Jose. The atmosphere is lovely, with surfers catching waves, sea lions barking, and sailboats passing by. There are also plenty of people swimming and people watching. On weekends, parking can be a challenge, but it's cheaper to park on the pier than in the nearby lots, some of which charge up to $30. Be sure to arrive early to secure a spot!
The entrance to this stunning beach boasts a remarkable inn that is sure to leave you in awe. If you're curious to learn more about this charming hideaway, I recommend checking out my Wife's blog, Beached Flamingo.
This beach, situated just a mile south of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, is a real hidden treasure. It boasts a team of three lifeguards, two of whom are on a Sea-Doo for rescues, and has plenty of excellent waves perfect for boogie boarding. Additionally, there are restrooms available and the beach is located in a peaceful area, making it an ideal spot for families.
This stunning beach is an ideal destination for pet owners seeking a relaxing getaway. During the weekdays, the beach is not overly crowded, allowing visitors to enjoy the serene surroundings in peace. However, the parking facilities are limited, so it is advisable to arrive early to secure a spot.
This stunning beach has been a lifesaver for my family during the pandemic. With its vast expanse, we always felt secure here because we could easily maintain social distance. Even now, after two years, we continue to frequent this pristine beach several times during the summer. The breathtaking scenery and pristine surroundings make it a perfect destination for sunbathing and relaxation. The only drawback is the parking fee if you want to park closer to the beach. However, there is a trail leading down to the beach, which can be a bit challenging for the elderly due to the elevation. But if you are willing to walk a few minutes, you can park for free in the large parking lot just outside. This is undoubtedly my favorite beach to unwind and soak up some sun.
