This stunning beach is located a 45-minute hike away from Bongo hotel, offering a chance to witness a variety of wildlife along the way. The hike is not too strenuous, but the last stretch may be a bit treacherous, so it's advisable to wear proper shoes or sandals instead of flip-flops. It's best to visit during low tide to fully enjoy the beach, as the water may recede and leave very little sand behind. For those seeking privacy, there are secluded areas on both the left and right sides of the main beach. The beach is also clothing-optional, adding to the sense of freedom and relaxation. During our visit in late April, the beach was almost empty, with only a handful of people around. However, it's important to keep an eye on your belongings, as there have been reports of theft in the area. While the beach is generally safe, it's advisable to be cautious of suspicious individuals who may be loitering around with

Attention all thrill-seekers! Are you tired of the same old boring beaches? Well, have no fear, because this beach is not for the faint of heart. The final stretch of the path is a challenge, with parts missing due to a landslide and the potential for slipperiness. But who doesn't love a good adventure, right? To get there, be prepared for a hilly journey along a gradually narrowing and overgrown path. It's a bit of a wild ride, but manageable with proper footwear. Sure, it may worry some people, but the satisfaction of making it to the beach is worth it. And once you arrive, you may find yourself with the entire beach to yourself on a Friday afternoon. How's that for exclusivity? Just be sure to snap a photo of the daring trek you made to get there. Who needs a boring, easy beach when you can have a thrilling, unforgettable experience?

Playa La Macha is a stunning, isolated sandy beach that is on the smaller side. However, getting there isn't exactly a breeze. To reach it, you'll need to head towards Hotel Bongo and take a left. Before the hotel, there's a small parking lot available. If you happen to have a 4x4, you can drive a bit further, but if not, you'll need to walk and follow the "Playa Macha" sign. Keep following the road until you reach the end, which is a bit tricky due to the slippery and steep terrain. Despite the challenge, the breathtaking scenery and lovely beach make it all worth it. It's important to note that this beach is clothing-optional.

Nestled amidst lush rainforest, lies a serene and picturesque beach that is a must-visit during your stay in Manuel Antonio. The seclusion of this beach is what makes it stand out from the rest, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The hike down to the beach from the main road is a journey worth taking, with breathtaking views of the surrounding greenery. Although the hike is not technically challenging, it does require some physical effort as it involves steep hills and a total elevation gain of around 150m. However, the last 50 meters before reaching the beach can be a bit tricky, as the path has been washed out and requires some maneuvering through a narrow muddy path. All in all, the hike is worth the effort as you will be rewarded with a stunning beach that is truly breathtaking. It is recommended to bring proper shoes for the hike, to ensure a comfortable and safe journey. This beach is definitely a must-visit for

Brett's portrayal of the descent to the beach is spot-on. The final leg of the trek may be challenging for some, but the reward is well worth it. Along the way, we were fortunate enough to witness a remarkable sight - a three-toed/fingered Sloth making its weekly descent to the ground to relieve itself. Such an occurrence is incredibly rare and made our journey all the more special. Upon reaching the beach, we were greeted by powerful waves and reminded to be cautious of the undertow. However, the breathtaking volcanic rock formations lining the Costa Rican coastline made for an unforgettable experience.
